It took a short bout of panic but we finally discovered that, due to a glitch, bad moon, or some other unpredictable setback, the App Store builds of Money for iPhone and iPad contain a bug that prevents them from detecting files on iCloud. The data is not gone but cannot be accessed from iOS devices. So we rebuilt the same code, and now it works like a charm. I’m a writer myself and have no idea what all this means but the IT guys tell me that, in a nutshell, there was a problem that wasn’t their fault, and now it’s gone.

We’ve already submitted the iPhone and iPad updates for Apple’s approval and got an emergency ticket to get the approval real fast. Hopefully, you’ll be able to access your iCloud files within a couple of days.

Sorry for whatever happened!

That’s the question many of you ask after the latest update to all three of the Money apps. Here’s how it works.

In the previous version of Money, those who use it on more than one device kept their data files on iCloud. For some of you the sync worked, for others it didn’t. In any case, now that the iCloud sync has been replaced with the Wi-Fi method, Money needs to retrieve your data file back from iCloud to your devices.

The data will migrate to the first device that you will update. For instance, if you start updating your Money apps by downloading the new version for Mac, your Money document will be downloaded to your Mac. It will no longer be accessible from your iPhone and/or iPad until you sync them with your Mac using the good old Wi-Fi method.

If the data migration seems to be taking too long, try killing the app and relaunching it. Money will try to retrieve your data on each relaunch until it finally succeeds.

If you cannot access the document from the Mac version, you can trigger the data migration by selecting File > Download from iCloud.

As usual, if you have any other problems, please email us at support@jumsoft.com.

You might have noticed us touching on two brand new products in the blog post on Toolbox for Keynote. Here, we’ll give you some more information on the Infographics and Graphic Styles sets, designed to make your Keynote presentations much more exciting.

Infographics is a collection of data visualization elements to help you complement your slideshows with clear and stylish visual aids. The items included in the set range from smart and modern charts and diagrams to national symbols and maps. In total, the collection contains 43 business slides with charts and diagrams, 3 themes of mixed-data visualization elements, 5 chart themes with 10 charts each, 18 maps, and 230 flags of countries and international organizations.

Meanwhile, the Graphic Styles set helps you polish the overall look of Keynote slides with unique layout elements. It includes 140 bullets, 5 keyboard character styles, 72 image frames, and 243 patterns.

All images include transparent backgrounds that allow them to be placed on various colored and patterned backgrounds. Most Infographics elements are drawn in shapes, which enable resizing and changing colors as well as adding and removing various image components. You can also adjust the tint, brightness, and other parametes of the frames and characters included in Graphic Styles, as well as change the fill and opacity of the patterns.

After a rather frantic month of dealing with the unfortunate iCloud sync, we made an always-difficult decision: to do a U-turn. New versions of all three Money apps are currently waiting for Apple’s review, and they all contain the old sync via Wi-Fi. Some of you will be glad to go back to the old sync, and some will be inevitably disappointed, but we must admit that iCloud sync is just not reliable on Money. Let us explain you how we ended up with this undesirable result.

Right after iCloud was first released, we started getting requests to incorporate an iCloud feature into Money for easier syncing. That really seemed to be a great idea, and in a way it still does. We started working on it immediately and ran into problems not much later. After many months of constant issues, we thought we saw a light at the end of the tunnel when Mountain Lion and iOS 6 came out, because we finally managed to build a Money version with an operational iCloud sync. However, as we can see now, it was a bit too early for champagne.

All of you surely know many document-based apps that use iCloud and seem to be doing absolutely fine. That’s why it must seem odd that Jumsoft is utterly incapable of developing a proper iCloud sync feature. However, the big difference between Money and those iCloud-friendly apps is that Money uses a relational database created with Core Data to handle its highly complex data models. And although iCloud is, without a doubt, a great tool for straightforward file saving, it has serious problems with Core Data, as attested by many a blog post, such as this one on Macworld.

The bottom line is that we cannot remove Core Data from our apps because that would make them little more than simple spreadsheets. Nor can we rely on iCloud to work with Core Data properly, at least for now. We shouldn’t have released the iCloud version of Money and, frankly, we had resisted pressure for many months, but back in December we were sure that we finally had a fully working sync feature. Actually, many of our customers are absolutely happy with the new sync because it does work on their devices. But, seemingly randomly, it just does not work for others.

That’s why we must pull the iCloud versions of all three Money apps from the market. We cannot apologize enough for all the distress they caused, but we can promise that the new updates will fix both the sync issues and the problems with data disappearing. And the sync button will be back :)

Hi everyone! We’re extremely happy to announce the most important Money update of the year, if not of all times. All three updated versions of Money by Jumsoft now include the iCloud feature, which allows you to store Money documents on iCloud and edit them from whichever device you have at hands at any given moment: your Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch.

To make use of the iCloud feature, you will need OS X 10.8.2 and iOS 6. Download the latest update of Money by Jumsoft and make sure that iCloud is enabled on all devices on which you have the app. Also, check your iCloud settings to make sure that Documents & Data sharing is active on all devices. On your Mac, save or move your current Money file to iCloud. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPad Touch, you will get a notification asking whether you would like to use iCloud. Tap “Use iCloud” and allow the app some time to sync the data. Simple!

The new updates also feature iPhone 5 support as well as full Retina support, data import and export via email, and improved direct downloads for Mac. As usual, we also made lots of minor fixes and improvements in response to your feedback.

Have fun with the new, simple way of syncing your financial data! And, of course, enjoy the upcoming holiday season :)

Remember the Work Templates set we just released for those who choose to use MS Word on Mac? We now have its perfect companion: Presentation Themes for PowerPoint for Mac is also up and running. We updated this new pack of 30 high-quality, smoothly-customizable designs from our ever popular themes for Keynote. It will be useful to anyone who wishes to create presentations full of style and impression.

Each of the themes contains 20 master slides, a mix of bullet text, and media-oriented layouts. All media slides feature placeholders to neatly crop a placed image, chart, or video into a custom shape.

You can effortlessly recolor, reshape, move, or remove most objects in Presentation Themes. Type or paste your own text, add and remove text boxes, and change fonts if you wish. Photos or videos can be dragged onto slides to replace the placeholders. Today we’re unveiling updated versions of all three Money apps: for Mac, iPhone, and iPad. That’s right, the same ones we have been telling you about for months and hoping to release them soon. Well, soon is now.

As mentioned before, all three Money apps now have the Locations feature, powered by Foursquare. It gives you suggestions of nearby venues each time you are entering a new transaction or creating a new payee. All Foursquare payees have predefined but easily editable categories, which will also be suggested to you when adding a transaction. On top of that, you’ll be able to assign locations to existing payees and view each payee on a map. All quick, easy, and more fun than expense tracking has a right to be!

In addition to the Locations, Money for Mac also features a redesigned Reports section, complete with fresh interface, 4 new types of reports (future transactions, future forecast, Portfolio, and tags), and export to CSV. There’s also a new smart report capability, which does pretty much the same as smart accounts, only in reports. It allows you to generate reports based on a variety of criteria and updates them automatically.

The Money for iPhone and iPad apps got their own Locations features, which are especially useful on the go, as well as a number of other improvements. Now you’ll be able to mark your transactions as reconciled and export your reports to PDF and CSV on your iOS devices. You will also be able to select the default fields for new transaction details. We implemented many minor improvements and fixes that you may or may not notice but that will definitely make your expense tracking experience smoother.

As usual, you can download the updated versions of Money on the Mac App Store and iTunes App Store. Enjoy the changes and keep in mind that the long-awaited iCloud sync is nearly ready too.

First, Clipart Prime was given the twice-the-fun treatment, and now comes the first update to our new Elements for iWork collection. It includes 385 new pieces, which can be used to illustrate slideshows, invitations, posters, newsletters, e-books, or just about any kind of content that lacks a creative touch.

In total, the Elements for iWork set contains 722 doodle icons, 47 patterns, 6 badges, and 68 watercolor cliparts in 3 color versions: green, blue, and red. You will never need to purchase any more arrow or exclamation mark images if you get this bundle of creative scribbles. Speech bubbles, hand gestures, picture frames, and knitting patterns – all is covered.

The updated Elements for iWork set gives you the same benefits that made you fall in love with the first version: transparent backgrounds that allow placing images on a variety of colors and patterns, as well as the PNG format that enables adjusting color parameters. Besides, although Elements for iWork was designed to bed used with Pages and Keynote, you can also copy and paste the images into Numbers or iBooks Author.

Using Elements for iWork is truly straightforward. All you need to do is download the app, open the preview window, and drag the images to your selected location. The images will be saved there automatically, and you will be able to access them whenever you like. Images can be applied by using Copy and Paste or simply dragging an image onto a document and dropping it. The image resolution is suitable for printing.

Interested? We bet you are, so check the samples here, and grab your own Elements for iWork here!

Newsflash! Our lovely illustrator has drawn a brand new and shiny update of the Clipart Prime collection, and it is available for your use now. And when we say update, we mean UPDATE: a new category of school-related images, a few additions to older categories, and a couple of hundred top-quality images of flags of sovereign states, regions, US states, and international organizations. IAEA, San Marino, and Azawad included, obviously.

The updated Clipart Prime set includes a total of 516 images of the highest quality available on the market. It covers a nice medley of themes, from various metaphors to science and industry, including a whole line of weather icons, come rain or shine. A few fine specimens of the deluxe version of our clipart are a colorful pile of Mardi Gras beads, a mouth-watering pizza Margherita, and a sturdy yellow construction helmet. You can use these images to design impressive icons or to ginger up your presentations, websites, posters, newsletters, and virtually any old task that could use a dash of fresh perspective.

Clipart Prime images all have transparent backgrounds that allow you to position the art on a variety of colors and patterns. The images are delivered in PNG format, which enables you to change their brightness, contrast, tint, and other properties. They are available in two resolutions: 72 dpi for Web and 300 dpi for quality printing. In addition, you can use Clipart Prime with Pages, Keynote, MS Word, PowerPoint, and various graphics programs.

Once again, the time has come for us to give you a short summary of what’s going on in the Money department. There have been so many minor tragedies and triumphs that the full list would take about a week to read.

First and foremost, why are the updates for Money for Mac, iPhone, and iPad not available yet? As we mentioned in our last post about Money for Mac, we have implemented the Sandbox feature, which is excellent for security but, apparently, not so great for syncing. Due to a bug beyond our control, Sync Services won’t work with Sandbox, and at this point the connection among the three versions of Money still relies on Sync Services. This is the reason why Money for Mac has not yet been approved by Apple. If we released the newly updated iPhone and iPad versions, major sync problems would arise due to database differences between them and the old version of Money for Mac, so we can’t do that. Yup, that’s messy and annoying for our users, our developers, our managers, and for basically all parties involved.

The silver lining to all this mess is actually a cloud (yes, that is indeed a very cheesy sentence, but its author is as annoyed as all other parties involved and needs a safety valve through which to let off some steam). The cloud we’re talking about, of course, has an ‘i’ in front of it, and so we finally have a working version of Money sync via iCloud. The release of Mac OS X 10.8.2 and iOS 6 solved a few issues that had been getting in the way of our attempts to make the sync work, and we’re currently testing it vigorously to make sure that it works perfectly.

A round-up: We are communicating with Apple regarding the Sync Services vs. Sandbox issue and attempting to solve it. If we do not succeed, we will skip this update and go straight to the next version with the iCloud sync and retina support on Money for Mac. Please take into account the fact that we’ve only had the working version of iCloud sync for less than a week, so it may take several weeks more to fully polish it and make sure your financial data is safe in Money. We realize that all the delays are frustrating, but we are honestly doing our best.

As Word for Mac is an entirely different beast than Pages, we always kept mumbling something along the lines of “unfortunately, we have no imminent plans for Word templates.” However, our designers recently rolled up their sleeves to create our very first and, therefore, very best set of templates for Word.

The Work Templates set is an adaptation of our popular Inspiration Set for Pages. It contains 170 templates for various document types, ranging from brochures and invoices to greeting cards and jar labels. Most of the templates include multiple layouts, which allows you to choose the best look for your documents.

Just like its Pages counterpart, Work Templates is very easy to use. You can recolor, move, or remove nearly every element of the templates and otherwise customize them to your own liking. Stock images can be easily replaced with your own photos. All templates are available in the US and international paper sizes.

Take a look at our first crack at templates for Word here. They are available for sale on this website and on the Mac App Store.

It’s time for the first proper blog post on this shiny new website, and here we’ll tell you about what we’ve been doing in the Money department lately. Ha, “Money department” actually sounds pretty solid :)

We are currently preparing new versions of all Money apps for Mac, iPhone, and iPad. The core improvement that runs through all the three apps is the Locations feature powered by Foursquare. Very soon you’ll be able to forget scrolling up and down the payees list while adding a new transaction, because the app will give you suggestions of nearby venues to choose from. It will also do other location-related things, but we’ll keep them under wraps for now. The important thing is that we’ve been torturing this new function with extensive testing for a few weeks, and even the laziest among us admit that it makes expense tracking much faster and rather fun.

The new version of Money for Mac is being developed to run in the so-called App Sandbox, which is a new requirement for third-party apps sold on the Mac App Store and which maximizes security of your data. Even if malicious code should exploit Money, App Sandbox ensures that your data will not be stolen, corrupted, or deleted.

Our new MacBook Pro with Retina display hasn’t arrived yet, but our designers are already working on the super-high-resolution interface for Money. Down with the pixels, bring on the sharpness! Not in the upcoming version, though – you’ll have to wait for that one a bit longer.

Everyone knows what the first question in the comments is going to be, so we’ll try to answer it here. We’re planning to submit all three versions of Money for Apple’s approval by the end of next week. Hopefully, they will all go straight through, but if for some reason they do not, please allow as a couple more weeks max, will you? Please. [Puppy eyes.]

Like something’s changed. Hm… curious (cue thoughtful chin rubbing). Those who are here for the first time won’t notice anyway, so we’ll have to spell it out: We have completely redesigned our website! The background used to be white! True story!

On a more serious note, we are very proud to unveil Jumsoft’s refreshed look: from the new crisp logo (thanks to Jord Riekwel) to every corner of this beautiful website, which is now full of lush colors and rich textures. For this fantastic result we’d like to congratulate and thank our very own Dovilė, Giedrius, and Donatas, as well as the PSD2HTML team.

Now each of our products has its own page that looks a bit like a separate mini-site. The different backgrounds, fonts, and layouts are tuned to showcase each product in the best way possible. The store and support sections have also been overhauled, as well as the About page, where you can now see the pretty faces of our whole team. As per usual, the Blog section will be the place where we tell you about our fresh releases, latest endeavors in app development, and simply keep in touch. So stay tuned for imminent news, as we have a couple of aces up our sleeves!
