That’s the question many of you ask after the latest update to all three of the Money apps. Here’s how it works.
In the previous version of Money, those who use it on more than one device kept their data files on iCloud. For some of you the sync worked, for others it didn’t. In any case, now that the iCloud sync has been replaced with the Wi-Fi method, Money needs to retrieve your data file back from iCloud to your devices.
The data will migrate to the first device that you will update. For instance, if you start updating your Money apps by downloading the new version for Mac, your Money document will be downloaded to your Mac. It will no longer be accessible from your iPhone and/or iPad until you sync them with your Mac using the good old Wi-Fi method.
If the data migration seems to be taking too long, try killing the app and relaunching it. Money will try to retrieve your data on each relaunch until it finally succeeds.
If you cannot access the document from the Mac version, you can trigger the data migration by selecting File > Download from iCloud.
As usual, if you have any other problems, please email us at support@jumsoft.com.

I installed v 2.5.1 on my iPhone – the one that removed the iCloud sync. Now I’ve lost all my data, and I can’t get the data back from iCloud. Please help!
FYI: I only use Money on iPhone, not on Mac.

I am and user of Money App for iPad and iPhone. I don’t have the Mac version and the iCloud sync for me it’s vital as it’s the only way to keep my Money app transactions up to date on both my devices. If I update the app I won’t be able to sync anymore my two iOs devices. How can I solve this? If I don’t update will I still be able to use my iCloud documents or they will be cancelled and will I lose all the info? Are you planning to bring iCloud back soon? You need to solve this issue as not everyone has ALL 3 versions of the App.

I suggest you add a link to this post from your Support page.
I looked there first, saw no information about what to do to retrieve my data file, sent off a snippy email to your support, then found this page.
I now feel bad that I send off a snippy email.

iCloud sync worked great for me: I don’t understand why you are forcing everybody to go back to the old Wi-Fi sync? At least add an option to enable iCloud sync.

If your data seems to be lost, please do not panic. We’ve already found a bug that prevents Money from accessing files from iCloud. The data is not gone, it only can’t be accessed. We’ve submitted an update for Apple’s approval and expect it to be available within a couple of days. Sorry for the trouble!

The iCloud feature worked flawless for me. I own a production company and work across 20-30 computers that are hardly ever in the same city, let alone same wi-fi. I was a computer programmer for 7 years before opening my business, and I can tell you that removing a major connectivity feature and requiring changes to the end user’s management of data that may or may not be practical or feasible is strictly unacceptable. As things stand now, your “wi-fi sync” is a hop skip and a jump from emailing myself data files productivity wise, and reminds me of hot-syncing my ’05 RIM device in high school. For now, I will continue to use the older version and hope that you don’t decide to just dump the advertised feature without a true alternative solution. However, if iCloud functionality isn’t brought back I am going to have to look for a different software solution.

The wifi sync is working between iphone and MAc however the wifi sync option is not showing up on the iPad. Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot believe an app can be riddled with so many bugs. The last update meant that my money file completely crashed every time I opened it. I started all over again and now I can’t get it off the icloud!!
Sort this out!
BEYOND FRUSTRATED:

I can’t sync using the update because my iPhone doesn’t show up on my Mac desktop version of “Money”. Let me be clear – there is no “Devices” list showing up under “Manage” on my desktop version of MONEY, and therefore, no iPhone showing up to sync with.
Please advise how to sync!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And stop taking away syncing options! Use BOTH, and at least WARN your clients before “upgrading” to an option that doesn’t work for half of them!

My data was lost when I tried syncing to iCloud. You posted on Jan 30 that fixes would be available within a few days. Are they available?

If someone like me is happy about the iCloud version but by mistake has updated the app to its new version that eliminates the iCloud feature (2.5.2), it can be downgraded again to the 2.5 version by getting the .ipa file in the trash bin of your Mac and reinstall it over in iTunes. This happens when you updated the apps in iTunes, it installs the new version and put the old one in the trash bin. If the trash bin has been emptied out, then there is no way to downgrade. Hope that helps someone in this confusing time of Jumsoft Money app.

Dear Jumsoft,
I hope you are listening to how dissatisfied the majority of your users are with Money 4. Just take a gander at your Mac Appstore reviews if you are unsure. I can only hope that instead of working on more Pages and Keynote templates, that you instead concentrate on Money 5 and make a fully functional amazing finance app that also includes invoicing, budgeting, and cloud support.
Still, I don’t know if that will be enough to repair the damage done to your reputation because of both Money 4 and canceling support for your other apps such as Bill Engine, Relationship and Projects.

Hi Tim,
We assure you we are doing our best to create an app that would be no less than amazing. Sometimes our best is not enough, at least no to all of our clients. We have learned from our mistakes and will most probably have more opportunities to learn, because doing something new by default involves a risk of failing. However, we do know that the majority of our users are satisfied with Money, and even larger majority will be when we manage to solve the most pressing issues, such as syncing and data file handling according to system preferences.
You seem to be implying that we should stop our graphic designers and illustrators from doing their job and creating Pages and Keynote templates because the app development team is having trouble doing theirs. Would that make Money any better? Or should we apply the equality principle and inflict the same amount of misery onto buyers of our design products as on Money users?
The thing is, we do listen to all the feedback we get and we do try to address all problems our customers are having. Some of these can be solved in a few days, and some require months. Some cannot be solved without making it worse for other users. Some can hardly be implemented without forcing us into bankruptcy. But we still spend our days and sometimes nights trying to find a solution to all of these issues and to create the perfect Money.
Sincerely yours,
Jumsoft team
