Money with iCloud Is Out!

Hi everyone! We’re extremely happy to announce the most important Money update of the year, if not of all times. All three updated versions of Money by Jumsoft now include the iCloud feature, which allows you to store Money documents on iCloud and edit them from whichever device you have at hands at any given moment: your Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch.

To make use of the iCloud feature, you will need OS X 10.8.2 and iOS 6. Download the latest update of Money by Jumsoft and make sure that iCloud is enabled on all devices on which you have the app. Also, check your iCloud settings to make sure that Documents & Data sharing is active on all devices. On your Mac, save or move your current Money file to iCloud. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPad Touch, you will get a notification asking whether you would like to use iCloud. Tap “Use iCloud” and allow the app some time to sync the data. Simple!

The new updates also feature iPhone 5 support as well as full Retina support, data import and export via email, and improved direct downloads for Mac. As usual, we also made lots of minor fixes and improvements in response to your feedback.

Have fun with the new, simple way of syncing your financial data! And, of course, enjoy the upcoming holiday season :)

Perfect. Its Great, but you got to get fix the repport issues. We can’t anymore put great repports in one page. The coluns do not get smaller, we get ever to many pages to print. You got to solve that. The new repport mode do not work fine.

    Hi, Thanks for the update,

I agree with Leo, the report feature needs fixing ASAP. Most users print out reports and this is now not possible as some reports span 15 pages… with category headers on each page.

Thanks again for the update once the report feature is done this app is complete and an absolute no 1.

    Thanks

1) why a tiny passcode? I’m writing on the go, while shopping etc. Please change that back to the pin
2) i updated and tried to integrate icloud, just to realize I need the newest lion on my mac, now my mac doesn’t find my iphone anymore
3) didn’t set my ipad up with icloud, still no connection to mac

Please fix this ASAP.

I paid for 3 apps! which is actually just one (big joke to me, but different topic), so it should work. Period.

    Hello there,
we are aware of the issue, and we are looking into it. In some cases, restarting the device helps, so please try that.

I’m in the same situation. Tried to start the cloud document with the iphone 1000 times, but it doesn’t load.

I have tried deleting the application in the iphone, and launching it again, but it still doesn’t work.

Hi Daniel, Thanks a lot for the comment. I am sorry to hear you’re havnig problems with the migration, I did manage to move my data from MobileMe to iCloud. That was on 13th October already. From what I’ve read on the Internet there are still lots of people trying to migrate. If I had to give some advice would be to try the migration when US customers are asleep. I managed to migrate my data at 7am here in Europe, maybe at that time Apple servers were not that clogged. Keep me updated and good luck!Pietro

Hi Guys,

My desktop version of Money, which I got from the website not from App Store, is not updating to the newest version… and when I check for updates it doesn’t find any…

Any thoughts?

What really annoys me is that Jumsoft hasn’t got back to me and is remaining quiet without any sort of statement about the sync issue or why the downloaded version is different from the app store.

I’ve been seeing complaints on the Apple Store site from Chase customers who found to their tremendous frustration that Money won’t work with their bank. I’d like to be sure it’ll work with mine before I buy or spend time with the trial. Is there a list available where I can get that information?

pleas help with icloud sync. first step in new money was transferring file to iCloud, after half our I had to restore my iPhone from backup. Now I’m working with file on iPhone. But I bought Money for OS X and I want sync between these platform.
I do not find “how-to” sync if I choose for first time not sync with iCloud. Please write me how to do it.

Achim:

Sorry, I testet money on my mac and i bought Money for my iPhone, but now, with Sync only with iCloud I don’t buy the Version for Mac, because I don’t want move my financial file in the Cloud from Apple!

I am from Switerland, we don’t belive, that iCloud is save for our financial files! We want sync with Wifi or with other Dropbox!

This Update is not good, no Step to the Future!

    Ea:

    January 06, 2013 at 8:15 pm

Please enable both WIFI sync and iCloud sync so that we can chose!

I love the app, but now it has become less useful for me, 1) I would prefer not to have the info in the cloud, 2) before me and my boyfriend could both use it and sync with the same file in the same computer. It was Great! That however does not seem to be possible now, since we, of course, have and need to have different iCloud account in our phones.

So, listen to your users and make both WIFI and iCloud syncing possible. Then we will all be happy : )

Nicole:

December 18, 2012 at 4:28 am

I agree with Achim. The iCloud sync is slow and I Prefer a lot more sync via WIFI. If you wnt to use cloud storage please use Dropbox (cleaner and faster)

Really confused about how to sync with my computer now, because I am still on Lion. I appreciate your frequent updates, but really am frustrated at the idea of being forced to update my OS in order to keep the syncing working for just one program I use. I have paid for the desktop and the iphone app, and I just want them to work together the way it worked before. Should have been a warning that syncing would stop working if not on most up to date desktop OS. I don’t like that my data isn’t backed up now and only exists on my iPhone since I can’t sync.

This is pretty poor testing and customer service. Enabling iCloud on iOS devices is fine, whatever people’s disagreements are, but not making it backwards compatible with those who use older devices, OS/iOS systems is foolish.

The fact that it is almost a week and no communication has been made to customers is pretty poor. The reviews are scathing and the track record is not positive. I hope you do something soon, for your own sake.

Terry Keeling:

December 19, 2012 at 6:20 am

I keep a transcribed copy of “cash” on my Money version for Mac together with banking and other data and use an iPhone version (“cash” only) on my phone. It had data from 1 July 2012 on the phone until I updated to Money 2.5. Now there is no data whatever on the phone and i am expected to start all over again. I have never wanted to sync between devices as I don’t want my entire financial records on the phone, which could perhaps be stolen. I don’t use iCloud because, like the gentleman from Switzerland, I don’t want to send my personal data elsewhere.

However, losing all the data just because of an update is extraordinary. At the very least, I want to be able to restore it from iTunes, which is possible with all other database and similar apps.

On the Mac, even though I have input some new data since the update (which luckily seems to have been saved), the date on the Mac next to the app is stuck at 14 December: it should change to the date and time of any input of new data and does not.

What is going on?

Achim:

December 19, 2012 at 11:05 am

Go back to sync with Wifi and all comes good!

    Terry Keeling:

    December 20, 2012 at 1:57 pm

Syncing to iTunes with WiFi does not bring back my iPhone data. It may well be still on the phone, but the update to 2.4 does not allow me to read it. Several apps allow syncing to a file in iTunes and you can then recover information from there – I have several including Evernote, TapForms and Sheet2 which allow me to copy to the phone and import as well. Money does not allow this but it can’t be that difficult and it should be implemented asap. Luckily for me, I can still read all my iMac Money data despite upgrading to 4.4 and I made a manual duplicate of my cash file on the Mac version of Money so could copy it back via iCloud: but I don’t want to use iCloud.

Same problem with all the guys above. Can’t sync between iPhone Money & Mac Money anymore.

iCloud doesn’t seemed to be working (I tried setting it up but nothing happens when I open iPhone Money after setup everything). And wifi and old usb sync are both gone. So now my two money database are running independently.

If there are no solution SOON. The only thing I can do is to start over with ANOTHER software. It’s going to be painful, but if it has to be done…..

It’s okay to add new features, but why take the old ones away when you can use it as backups when the best & newest just doesn’t work?!

December 21, 2012 at 2:35 am

I have spent the last 7 days since the update was released trying to make the sync through iCloud work, fortunately I made a duplicate of my data file and kept that separate . There have been problems with iCloud itself which contributed to the issue but iCloud is working now and I did succeed in making Money sync and I could open my data on either iPhone, iPad or iMac but after a small change on one device which was carried through to all devices the next time I opened the file the account balance of an account I had not opened had changed . I made several attempts to get it working but each time after a change something else would change in another account. The bottom line is it is unstable and does not work Jumsoft should bring back Wi-Fi Sync that worked and I never lost any data fortunately I was able to revert to using my duplicate file in “on my Mac” mode but the apps for my iPhone and IPad are now useless as I cannot sync up with my iMac.

JUMSOFT PLEASE BRING BACK WIFI SYNC

It seems that Jumsoft has some busy days, since nothing really works like it should.

- All my data on my iPhone is now gone, after the update, my document was deleted on the iPhone. All gone, yes.
- After updating to 4.4. on my Mac, I still have no clue how to “move the file to iCloud”, since the option is not available – no iCloud function like mentioned above for me. (Yes, I have activated iCloud for Documents, it’s not the first time I use iCloud)
- And WIFI Sync is gone two, so we’re basically back where we were in 2009, without any way of syncing devices.

Great.

    Hello there,
it should not be gone, try going to Settings > Money, disabling iCloud and rebooting your phone. Your data should be back.
Do you have OS X 10.8.2? If so File > Move to… > and choose iCloud as the destination, just like in any Apple app, Pages for example.

Hello,

I have been using the app for 1 year on iPhone, iPad and Mac.. After the last upgrade and start iCloud synching some transactions (all transaction for one and a half month) have disappeared in all accounts inside the Money app. I have not deleted them. What is the problem and your suggestions?

Thank you.

Will B:

December 21, 2012 at 9:42 pm

Please, please, please bring back wi-fi sync! It worked so much better, and it must be more secure!
Also, please fix the issue of having to select which Money file to open each and every time. I would like it to open my one and only Money file by default.
Also, the latest iphone app doesn’t lock (even with password set) unless I double click the Home button and completely stop the app. If I don’t do this and open Money on my phone the next day, the file just opens without the need to enter any security code!

Allan:

December 22, 2012 at 4:22 am

Previous iOS versions (1.1 for iPad and 2.4.1 for iPhone) still WiFi sync with Mac version 4.4, have not tried version 4.4.1. You have to start the sync from the iOS device, if you try to start sync from your Mac you are told to downgrade your iOS device.

Joe:

December 22, 2012 at 6:47 am

I want a refund for purchasing the upgrade and the iPhone app!!! Ever since I upgraded from v3 it’s been nothing but crap crap crap! Now I open Money on my computer and on my iPhone – iPhone plugged into the computer – and it’s changed all over again! The support page says I have to move my Money file to iCloud – BUT NO INSTRUCTIONS on how to move my Money file to iCloud. Every time I open Money it asks me which file I want to open. (HERE’S A HINT: THE SAME ONE I’VE BEEN USING FOR A YEAR!) And I can’t sync.! There is no SYNC option on the iPhone app!! WTF is going on over there?!?!? Stop forcing these crappy updates! Make it work NOW or give me my refunds!!

Alberto:

December 22, 2012 at 3:49 pm

My iPad version of Money doesn’t save any transaction once the application is closed. I have to do everything on the iPhone and sync the iPad version with iCloud. Furthermore the Mac version of Money can’t get updated to the 4.4 version that includes iCloud features since I’m on Lion and not Mountain Lion. It’s not fair to eliminate the possibility to sync over wifi for Lion users since the updates of the iOs are free while the updates of Mac OS are to be paid for.

Alberto:

December 22, 2012 at 3:59 pm

On the Mac App Store it says that the requirements for the download are OSX 10.7 or newer versions, however on your support page it says that the iCloud sync only works with OSX 10.8. On the Mac App Store doesn’t say that I need OSX 10.8 to use the iCloud sync and now I have a not updated database on my mac and an updated one on iPhone and iPad. THIS SUCKS!!!

Irina:

Seriously people!
If you go back to the blog post about the last version, everybody was screaming about iCloud sync. Now we have iCloud sync, and now sooo many users miss the old wifi sync. It must be a b**ch to be a software developer, and to make everybody happy at the same time. There are alternatives out there. Some with local sync, some without sync and some with sync to the developers own servers (how about security there, huh?).
I’m not a developer myself, so I have no idea of how complicated it can be to have both (local and server) sync. It would be a nice feature, if possible.
And for those of you wining about refunds: Ask yourself how much crap software you have bought during the years and ask yourselves if this really will tip your budget. It sounds like a real luxury problem. Buy something else.
There’s a war in Syria and people are starving in Africa. Give Jumsoft just a l i t t l e break.
Happy Holidays!

    December 23, 2012 at 12:57 pm

I am a developer. You don’t take core features, such as Money’s local/WiFi sync, out of the equation. Why? Because not everyone runs the latest software. Money’s iCloud sync would be great, if everyone was running Mountain Lion, but not every iMac/MacBook is able to run Mountain Lion, and they are only 4 years old. Bottom-line, it should be backwards compatible.

Additionally, iCloud is still not full-proof. It’s not a feature that should be contained on its own.

Would consider iCloud sync if it WORKED, but it doesn’t, so please bring back WiFi sync until it does and why is it so hard to give us an option – have just downloaded trial version of YNAB and it gives the option of either…

A brief message saying the new update required upgrading to Mountain Lion and a commitment to the iCloud is a pretty basic thing to have done.

I don’t have Mountain Lion and didn’t have iPhone (4S) cloud enabled. Have lost a year’s worth of data which despite assurances from Jumsoft that it is still there, I can’t access. This was a great app that I used all the time, no rendered more or less useless.

As far as I can see unless Money restores the wifi sync option, I have to either shell out for and install Mountain Lion, with no guarantee it will work and the risk that it will mess up some other app that hasn’t been developed for it yet or buy another programme.

Question is – WILL YOU bring back Wifi sync and if so, WHEN?

Stefano Villa:

December 23, 2012 at 4:14 pm

Hi, I tried several times to have an answers from you.
Once I updated to the latest version all my data disappeared (one year!) and I am no longer able to retireve them with the new version, regardless your isntruction to deactivate iCloud and restart amnd so on.
Then I tried by myself and I succeeded in recovering the SQL Lite database, so now I got it back but still I cannot open it though your app.
As I was guessing, it was not deleted from iPad’s memory, instead the updated app was not able to locate it correctly.
I made a backup and trough a backup extractor software I found that there are two parallel paths under the application:
One is money.money containing the file persistentStore which is empty; I guess this is the path which the app links to.
The second one is money.pkg containing as well a file named persistentStore which is the actual database that is no longer seen by the app.
Now, how can I make the app come to recognize the right file?
Are you going to release a further update or is there another way to do it?
Why does not the app interface with iTunes, like other do, so that I could copy the file straight into the directory?
Helo me solve this problem.

This is really frustrating when my iphone is not able to sync with the mac. Otherwise bring back the wifi in the new money !

1. Please bring back WiFi sync. Like the Switzerland guy said, it’s about MONEY and we don’t want it to be available on iCloud.

2. iCloud sync doesn’t work. Open the iPhone and it said the file need to open in Mac first. I open the file in Mac, then save it, close but nothing happen.

3. Now, I can only use the apps on Mac. Cannot sync to my iPhone. I have to note down my on the go expenses on paper again. I bought Money for iPhone to eliminate this not environmental friendly practice (safe paper, safe the tree, safe the planet!). But it seems I go back to that.

I posted earlier about how the iCloud sync was not working, seems many people experienced the same issues. HOWEVER, the latest update v4.4.1 works perfectly for me, now I can sync from iMac to iPhone 4S and iPad 2 ; any changes made on one device appear on the others. So to those of you still saving issues just update to 4.4.1 because it works.

Hello,
On my iPad iPhone and MacBook the iCloud sync work correctly. I’d a problem at the first time. For risolve my problem I removed the app from iPad and iPhone, put my database on iCloud by money for Mac and after reinstall the apps in iPad and iPhone.
For me iCloud sincronization is more better than wifi, I record the payment on my iPhone, start Mac app and I’ve the same record on my desk.
Please don’t remove iCloud sincronization.

2) When I duplicate one copy and save in icould. The old data can’t update, still in old one. Please fix it.

The iCloud sync works perfectly now following the update to v4.4.1 so those of you still having trouble you need to do this:
1. Clear all the data off your iPhone and iPad assuming that your master Money data file is on your Mac do this by turning off iCloud in Settings/Money for those devices.
2. Update the Mac version of Money to 4.4.1 and check that your data file loads on your Mac and looks correct.
3. Turn back on the ICloud option for Money in your iOS devices and then open the App on the iOS device and wait a short while and your Money data file will be in Sync.

I was very scathing of the first release and asked for Wi-Fi sync to be brought back but clearly there was a bug (it happens with software by the way :-) ) however what we have now is a fully operational iCloud sync so please just be patient and it will work for you.

Dear Jumsoft,

I recently purchased 5 copies of your Money program to replace MS Money after I’d reluctantly jumped ship from PC to Mac. On your recommendation I was assured that I could wifi sync my data with different devices and across accounts – my wife and I each have a MacBook and iPhone and we share an iPad and therefore we wanted to share the same Money file. The sync function allowed me to do this when I trialled the setup a few weeks ago. (I realised that iCloud functionality was not what we needed, obviously).

However, imagine my disappointment and frustration today when I eventually managed to find the time to sit down and setup Money properly for the first time – spending over 8 hours doing so – only to discover that the sync function has been removed when I innocently updated each device recently! Therefore, if syncing does not return I feel I have been duped into buying 5 copies of your software when I can only ever now use two now!

Jumsoft, reading this blog you do not appear to be endearing yourself to your customer base!

Please advise us about the return of the wifi sync functionality! Go on, cater for all of us who value your products!

Yours expectantly,

Nick

For those who can not asincronizzare with iClou I solved only by the support from jumsot if they have cheated.
However, the problem seems to be the old Money file.
you simply need to recreate exporting all transactions and import them into a new file of money.
I solved but nothing to alter the fact that this is a bug in the software.

Happy new Year

Hello,

I’ve recently upgraded my Money on Macbook Pro mid 2009 and iPhone4 to the latest versions, but some serious troubles have constantly happened.

1. Money on iOS6 cannot show the original file to take over. It’s for me necessary to transfer the recent transactions to Money file on Macbook instead of the syncing with the previous versions which process always took an incredibly long time to complete.

2. Money on Mountain Lion cannot move the local file (55MB) to iCloud while it’s able to do it with a new file created by the latest version. The process hasn’t seemed to be finished since it started 1.5 h ago.

Solving these issues are very fundamental to keep using the application!

Please give any simple advices or improvement with minor upgrading, I don’t wanna waste the holidays with dealing with this work!

Also, get the WiFi syncing back in its function, please!!!

    December 31, 2012 at 4:06 am

New Money on Mountain Lion is working after converting the file by ‘manual’ process of ’2 days’ (!), thanks to Fabio’s advice above. But Money 2.5 on iOS6 cant open the new file on iCloud, doesn’t look stoping its loading. Who can explain what a hell is going, anyone???!!!

David:

December 30, 2012 at 6:28 pm

Money for iPhone V2.4.1 was great. V2.5 is hell!

- Lost all my data upon update! iCloud is off since the start and have tried rebooting iPhone but no dice!
- Password screen only works on first launch! Password doesn’t work upon launching it the second time and onwards! The app doesn’t lock down!
- Please bring back the old 4-digit password screen with big numeric keys! The new alphanumeric password screen and keyboard is cumbersome and slow! At least give option to choose between simple password (with big numeric keys) or complex password (with regular huge keyboard)!

Tested this in iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S and 5 running iOS 6.0.1/6.0.2 :(

So from everything I’ve read in hear and on the App Store and Mac App Store, am I to assume that I should not buy this product?

Achim:

December 31, 2012 at 10:57 pm

On 13 December came the new update, many users are angry because they have lost a lot of data, but no feedback from Jumsoft here on this page!

The AppStore many user wrote, already at the last update, there were many problems.

I tested the last four weeks and money you dance with the trial version, from Jumsoft money looks good, I wanted to buy it as well … But now the night update no, I will not iCloud sync for my financial data and the support of Jumsoft is to throw up … no feedback, no reply!

I bought today you dance from Infinite child … perfect!

    Achim:

    December 31, 2012 at 11:01 pm

Sorry, i mean i testet Money from Jumsoft and Moneydance from Infinite Kind… and now, i bought Moneydance!

Peter:

January 01, 2013 at 2:17 pm

My money App (not MAS) still shows 4.4 as the newest version, however, you can download an update (4.4.1) from their website (download the “trial” version)… Unfortunately, even with the new version, I can’t save my iCloud documents from Mac to iCloud, there’s simply no option for that (and yes, I’m on 10.8.2)…

I mean, bugs happen in software, I totally understand that, but no reply, no nothing for a couple of weeks now: unaceptable and makes you feel pretty uncomfortable about a company that provides financial software… and yeah, of course it was holiday season, but you could have just published something like “we’re sorry, we screwed up, we’re working hard on it…”

As for my part, I think i’ll look around for other options, as much as I like money… you know, financial software is a big part about trust…

    Hoang:

    January 03, 2013 at 9:37 am

Yeah, I have the same problem, too. There’s no option for iCloud. Saving the file, no iCloud option. Opening the file, no iCloud option either. (yes, I’m using 10.8.2 Money 4.4.1)

i am having real issues with the icloud to the point where i can only manage my files on the mac. everything was fine until yesterday. i have tried all the solutions in this forum but the cloud is just not working.

i cannot even open any files or create files on my iPad

serious bug somewhere here – never had this issue when i synced with wifi

I am having the same problem since yesterday. I cannot open the files stored in iCloud through Money for iPhone. It gets stucked in “Loading…”

    Andrey:

    January 02, 2013 at 2:12 am

I second that, iCloud sync doesn’t seem to work anymore for me as well. Mac, iPad and iPhone libraries suddenly started living their own lives, I tried removing files from iCloud and then moving from Mac to iCloud, all I get is infinite “Loading…” on iOS devices when I access the file in iCloud.

Looks like a critical defect in Money software to me

Hey guys,
here how I solved the iCloud issue:

1) CLEAR DATA
1.1) moved xxx.money file to Desktop
1.2) deleted xxx.money on iphone
1.3) disabled iCloud sync on iphone

2) RECONFIGURE
2.1) opened xxx.money on iPhone and created a local copy
2.2) moved xxx.money on the Mac from Desktop to iCloud
2.3) enabled iCloud sync on iPhone

3) START & SYNC
3.1) started the app on iPhone
3.2) launched iCloud copy of xxx.money … and it worked (FINALLY!)

Hope this helps, guys.

Why won’t my Mac Money update to the latest version?

I bought the software directly from Jumsoft Store – the Check for update option tells me I am on the newest version available – 4.3.1

Not sure whats going on with this iCloud update, but I am fed up with the amount of time I have to put in to maintain what should be a straightforward application. Both my iPhone and iPad versions are no use to me without sync to Mac working in some shape or form.

Ken Blackwell:

January 02, 2013 at 2:56 am

Since the update to ver 4.1.1 the program won’t run. Running OS X Mountain Lion, on latest update. I can open the “sample” file through iCloud, but now cannot open my Money file stored on my computer. I only use the program on my Mac. It’s password protected. Every time I launch the program it crashes before ever opening. I’ve sent several emails to support but have not heard anything from them. I need my financial records… taxes to do, bills to pay. Get this fixed Jumsoft!

I’ve got the same problem mentioned in several posts above. Sometimes the sync with icloud works, but most of the time it doesn’t work at all.

It’s a great app when it’s working, but now it seems more and more like a premature beta.

Jumsoft, please provide us with a fix ASAP. I do not have the time to try different solutions that no one knows for sure if they will work or not.

Magnus:

January 02, 2013 at 5:56 pm

A while ago I tried to defend you from, what I considered unfair criticism. Now I must join the critics. The iCloud sync doesn’t work properly. Since this is not a fart app or a game, but deals with peoples economy, it’s crucial that you take swift corrective action. Otherwise you’ll lose all your customers faster than you can say “money”.
Sorry guys, but this just isn’t good enough. Save this now. While you maybe can.

Antonio Gantus Filho:

Additionally to what has already been said, Jumsoft is not caring for its customers. I am facing these issues for almost a month now and they simply don’t care! Right now I am trying to upload the money file from my desktop to iCloud and the only thing I get is “waiting” and “file is being migrated”.

Initially I thought this could be an issue with iCloud but after testing many other apps, its clearly Jumsoft’s fault.

I think I will give up on you guys!!!!

Hi,
I wrote before about my issue not being able to sync between newest ios device app (v.2.5) and my desktop app (v.4.3.1) without the iCloud feature since i don’t have osx 10.8!
So tried to send my documents from my phone via email to myself and just open it on my computer but no luck again! It just simply says that it couldn’t be opened! Downloaded the trial version of the newest desktop app (v.4.4.1) to try and it doesn’t work with that either!!!!! I really like money, but it is not my first disappointment with it and it starts to be a little to much. It doesn’t worth all of the haste :S PLS fix these problems!!!!

Do you guys at Jumsoft have any estimated time to repair? Bring back the Wifi sync and make Dropbox an sync option as well. If you had done that in the first place, that would have solved the problem fast and quite painless.

Nevin Van Nest:

January 03, 2013 at 11:00 pm

Hi guys,

I’ve been struggling with all the same issues as stated above. I’ve tried everything! The option I found to work is removing the money file from the iCloud and putting it on your desktop. Then opening the money file from your desktop and physically exporting each account out separately to a .qif file. I then deleted all the money files from the iCloud on all devices iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro.

I then created a new money file and imported all the .qif files back into the accounts. “note that you have to manually re-create all your accounts and then import the. .qif files into the corresponding account”. Everything seems to be syncing now between iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro.

The import went well including categories and payees. You will have to delete the standard categories etc. but your original ones will all be accounted for.

To me this seemed like an incompatibility issue with the original imported money file working on iCloud. Let’s hope Jumsoft gets the next update right!

    Magnus:

    January 03, 2013 at 11:32 pm

I did (almost) the same. Wise from previous experience, I alway run two apps parallel in the beginning. I have used Moneywiz for a while. Fairly stable, but with an awkward interface. So, since I had all the numbers right, I simply deleted everything having anything to do with Money, on both iPhone, iPad and Mac. Including deleting Money documents from Settings on Mac, and manually deleting files from Library/MobileDocuments. Clean slate.
Now lets see if it works. This is the last chance. Software is supposed to make our lives easier…

    Alex:

    January 04, 2013 at 6:08 am

I had sync issue as well, to the point when iPhone and iPad apps were not able to open the file in iCloud, they were stuck on “Loading” forever (I kept iPhone app open with “Loading” screen for about an hour just to see what happens). I resolved the issue this way:
    1. In Mac app I moved the file from iCloud storage to local disk. The file appeared again in iCloud, apparently due to updates pending from iPhone. I deleted this one.
    2. Re-started stuck iPhone and iPad apps (double-click on Home button, hold in task bar and close the app, re-open it from home screen)
    3. A pop-up appeared saying that the file is no longer available from iCloud, tap Delete (from device)
    4. In Mac app move saved file from local disk back to iCloud
    5. Opened iPhone and iPad apps, this time the file loaded normally and sync started to work again
Still don’t know what triggered this issue, maybe some brief iCloud outage.

    Greg Z.:

    January 05, 2013 at 12:23 am

Thanks for the tip Nevin. Just a couple of questions:
    1) what date format did you use for the .qif files, or does it matter?
    2) Did transfers between accounts record OK?
    3) did you have any Loan or Investment accounts to export/import and, if so, did they show up OK?

    Much obliged.

I don’t understand … you buy a product that works , they think to improve it and it doesn’t work anymore. leave a shortcut open in cases like this, it is impossible that you cannot sync your devices in a different way.
Please restore ASAP the wifi syncing

Not a good way to start the year

Joe:

Hi, the icloud sync is cool but I only have iOS6 and OSX 10.7.5.

Looking at your FAQ, I noticed that the syncing for 10.7 as stated in item 6 is as follows:
“Once the link between the two devices has been established, select Sync on your desktop version of Money to transfer data to your iDevice.”

Does this mean that this is a one-way sync only from desktop to iDevice? Since I carry my iDevice everytime, I would input my transactions there so will it not be sync’d to my desktop?

I’d like to purchase the product but need to clarify this syncing matter.
TIA

    Peter E:

I would advice you to put your purchase on hold until Jumsoft manage to solve their major icloud sync problem.

    Mgnus:

    January 04, 2013 at 2:56 pm

What in the world makes you think Dropbox is “safer” than iCloud? They’re both cloud services, they have the same level of security. They are both free. The only thing that could make a cloud service more secure, would be if the document itself was encrypted.

      Peter E:

      January 04, 2013 at 3:55 pm

Maybe not safer as in “safe from people who wants to get hold of your information you want to store in the cloud”, but safer as in “having more options if one of the cloud services should not work”.. Always good with pa Plan B if Plan A should fail.

        Achim:

        January 04, 2013 at 4:52 pm

By iCloud sync you can only sync with ONE Apple ID… by Dropbox Sync you can sync with a lot of Apple ID or what you want!
If my girlfriend and me work with one Money App, we can’t sync with her and my Apple ID, we just need one Apple ID, but with Drobbox we need only one Dropbbox Account!

But the iCloud are more safer as Dropbox, thats true… iCloud are encoded complet, for send and store the files, Dropbox only for send the files!

Jorge:

January 04, 2013 at 2:45 pm

iCloud sync should be an option rather than a obligation in the next updates, in order to be able to choose between either wifi and iCloud sync, so we could decide if we want to keep our financial data in our computer or in iCloud.

Having the posibility to sync in both systems (iCoud and computer) in parallel could be a good option, owing to the fact that, if one of the systems crashes, we will have completely updated the other file and we can continue syncing our data.

I’m having the same fault with your software as the people above. My iPhone version is stuck on loading.

Please smarten up your customer service and sort this out. I know that “it’s the holiday season after all” but it’s also a faulty product and “it’s my money after all”.

At least give us a choice if we want to keep our data in iCloud. I for one DO NOT!!!!

I have paid for iPhone, iPad and Mac versions and now cannot sync between them as I used to do and it worked 100% of the time. This is a HUGE step backwards. Lift you game guys!!!

After updating everything, rebooting, … still no option to move to iCloud. There is simply no option (on the Mac, iPhone works fine). All other iCloud apps work just fine.

Probably the same problem as most people here… I have Money on my Mac, iPad (4) and iPhone (5). The sync worked only for a few days, now it has not been working for like a month. I input expenses on my iPhone but it never shows on iPad nor Mac. Last update on my Mac for example is from Dec 16th!!! For quite expensive app comparing to others, this is a serious problem! I give Jumsoft max 14 days and if this is not solved, I will move to Moneywiz. Their sync seems to be working just fine…

SOME BETTER NEWS FROM ME

I AM NOW BACK WORKING AGAIN AND THIS IS WHAT I DID

DELETE YOUR FILE FROM THE CLOUD – MAKE SURE YOU BACK IT UP FIRST
DELETE VERSION 1.2 FROM THE IPAD AND DELETE ALL DATA OUT OF THE ICLOUD STORAGE AREA
USING TIME MACHINE ROLE BACK TO 10TH DECEMBER – THE LAST MAC MONEY UPDATE FROM VERSION 4.4 TO VERSION 4.4.1 – RESTORE VERSION 4.4
OPEN YOUR DATA FILE AND MOVE TO THE CLOUD
RE-INSTALL IPAD VERSION 1.2
I AM NOW WORKING ACROSS THE CLOUD USING THE MAC AND THE IPAD

THE KEY FOR ME WAS THE MAC ROLE BACK TO VERSION 4.4 – I WILL NOT UPGRADE UNTIL THERE IS A FIX FOR THE ISSUES THAT ARE PRESENT IN 4.4.1

Sadly because of this issue I have moved over to another Money tracking app.

I liked using Money, but days and expenses roll by and can’t wait for this issue to be fixed.

As I don’t need to sync, I’m not too worried about sticking with Money for the time being. However, there is clearly a problem with the Mac 4.4.1 version. Luckily I can read all the files since updating as well as add new data (unlike at least one unfortunate commentator). BUT: the file date and time remain unchanged no matter what additions are made and this means there is at least one bug in the update. Any new data entered should show up on the Mac file with a new date and time but it doesn’t. As I have two accounts on the computer, I can confirm that one of them, which I opened much later, is stuck on 21 December and the first on 14 December. I have entered data this month as well (January).

In 30 years of seeing Mac files, this has never happened with any other application I have used.

I sympathise with Jumsoft, this has occurred at a holiday time: but it’s a MONEY application, critical for a lot of us and it just has to work. I lost all my iPhone data but fortunately had manually entered it all on the computer as well and it’s still there. I began a new file on the phone (it’s just for cash payments so is not the big deal it would have been if it had been for the company I run which has all its data in Money on the computer). There are legal implications if I lose this, so I print some of it on a regular basis.

I look forward to an early and complete fix for this mess (oh, and wifi sync is a must).

I’m having exactly the same issues as everyone above and have emailed support with no response yet.. iCloud sync was working fine, after which it just stopped and now my Mac and iPhone versions are out of sync. I understand that it’s the holiday season but we’re already the 6th of January so that’s a ridiculous response – in addition, you need to manage the damage whilst people are waiting to find out what has happened by:

- Communicating what the issue is, how it will be resolved and what we should expect in terms of time instead of just saying “we’re working on it”
- Telling us what to do – should we continue adding data to both (or 3) devices and then expect them all to sync properly, without data loss/duplication once the issue has been resolved or should we hold off for now?

You’re going to have really pissed off users who have paid good money for these apps if, in addition to all of the issues above, there is a loss in data.

Please respond!!!

I have found that the following helps.

Give up on iPhone version.

Backup your master document/account file (maybe to desktop)
In finder duplicate the backup
Rename one of the backups a unique name (like new accounts)
double click this file
Once it has opened in money click on file name at top of window and select move to iCloud
wait………….
once it has reloaded, close window and select open, make sure you select icloud not computer from file window
(I now deleted the old data file just leaving the one i renamed from the backup.

close document
shut money

move to other mac
open money and wait…
it should list the new data file (no others as you deleted them on the old mac)

Make sure you quit Document/Account before quitting Money.
I have been doing this on my 2 mac’s and they seem to be working.
iPhone will not open data file.

This is working for me, it somehow breaks the ‘it just works’

I believe that Jumsoft people are more look and feel rather than software engineers

We really need this working, if my iPhone version does not work, I don’t get round to updating.

I wholly recommend Mr. Bryant’s advice in the comment above. I had done what he did pretty much to the letter and have preserved my data in a working Money app on my Mac.

The iPad and iPhone versions don’t seem to be working or syncing with iCloud, so I’ve stopped using them until they get fixed. What’s more, my Mac version doesn’t seem to be uploading to iCloud, although I back it up to my Mac fine.

My advice: stick to the Mac version for the moment. It’s a pain, and I hope that Jumsoft fix the iOS versions sooner rather than later. I love the apps despite the syncing problems.

Truly a bad ‘uprgrade’. Bring back wireless sync

So those who have not purchased via the Mac App Store, need to purchase again to be able to use iCloud? (and from what I’m reading here — still not be able to use it!?)

Teri:

My iPhone 5 will not open the data file. I have followed all of the instructions outlined in your news release.
Yes, I have tried re-starting my phone.
I have tried deleting and re-installing the app.
And I have emailed Jumsoft Support several times over the past week.

I really just want to use this product!! I wonder if a few dozen complaints to the BBB would *help* Jumsoft realize how important a). a working product is and b). customer service is.

To quote ismiseted:
Please smarten up your customer service and sort this out. I know that “it’s the holiday season after all” but it’s also a faulty product and “it’s my money after all”.

Could we downgrade the iOS app and the Mac app to its previous version such as 4.3 (mac) and 2.4 for iOS?

Damn…. I haven’t made any backup to my time machine since Oct 21st.

I’m currently stuck with Money 4.4.1 and Money 2.5.

I don’t want to update my iPhone to iOS 6 and my Mac to 10.8 as well, just to make it able to Sync between those two data.

Is there is any work around to sync without iCloud?

Frustrated user:

January 08, 2013 at 2:15 pm

I have spoken to Apple UK, and they tell me, that if the main functionality of the App is not working as stated on the App Store, you can apply for a refund of the cost of the App.

I have done this.

This update truly is appalling.

Can you post the procedure to do so ourselves?
Since our emails don’t seem to touch Jumsoft, maybe starting to loose some money will.

So, almost a month since Money got broken and I finally received a mail from you…

oh wait, it wasn’t about you fixing the app I already bought… it was about advertising your new app with the possibility to buy more of your stuff…

I don’t know whether you consider this smart marketing or not, but for my part, I bought iBank today…

Please, at least give us an extimated date for the upgrade.

Very unhappy user:

January 10, 2013 at 11:11 am

Purchased the iphone, ipad and mac version, from app store.
Unfortunately after a couple of weeks of being very happy for finally paying for what seemed to be a good product the whole icloud syncing thing corrupted my file until it wouldn’t open on any of the 3 devices!

Not using the iphone version, as some stated above is futile for me, as entering transactions on the go is a must.

I am very disappointed. this needs to be sorted out soon. I payed a lot of money for all of the apps and have got nothing to show for it!! In addition, support is non-existent!

Friends,

Jumsoft is laughing at us! I’m moving to iBank for all my devices. I’ve already contacted Apple and they promised to take action (possibly removing the App from all stores). I hope they do that because the lack of respect from Jumsoft is nearing the absurd!!!
