How to Transfer iWork Files to the iPad
Now that many of you have that magic device called the iPad, you naturally want to make the best possible use of it. That includes easily transferring iWork files from your Mac to the iPad so that you can take your ultra-slim friend to meetings and presentations. We have prepared a basic guide to make this task as smooth as possible. In this way, you can also get your favorite Jumsoft templates and themes for iWork on your iPad – just save them as ordinary Pages, Keynote, or Numbers files first.
The first way of transferring iWork files from the Mac to the iPad is very simple: just send them via e-mail to your own address. Then open your e-mail account on iPad and save the attachment file wherever you like.
The second way to transfer files is via iTunes. Here, you are going to need an iPad (obviously), Mac OS 10.5.8 or later, iTunes 9.1 or later, and the iPad version of iWork.
First, plug your iPad into your computer. Launch the appropriate version of iTunes on your computer, select your iPad from the Devices section, and click on the Apps tab. Under the File Sharing section, you’ll find a list of apps currently installed on your iPad that support file sharing. Click on, e.g., Pages, and then simply drag and drop your documents into the Pages Documents area.
That's all you have to do on the Mac side. The data files will now transfer across to the iPad.
Now launch Pages on your iPad. Navigate to the Document Manager screen:
Tap on the folder icon on the top right. Now you'll see all of the documents you have just moved to the iPad from your Mac:
Tap on the file you want, and there it is, with every object ready to be edited, recolored, reshaped, moved, or removed:
If you wish to share or export the file from iPad, click on the bottom left icon:
This is what your recipient sees if you choose to send the file via e-mail:
If you choose to share the file via iWork.com, select an appropriate format:
The same goes for exporting the file to another format:
Now go on and do more with your iPad! For more information on file sharing, go to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4094. If you have any questions about our templates and themes, e-mail us at info@jumsoft.com.

No, no, no. This is wrong: “Select Sync, and that’s all you will have to do on the Mac side.”
In fact, as soon as you drop your files on the file-sharing list box, they are transferred. No sync step is required. Just as no sync is required to drag files from the list box to your Mac.
Michael, thanks for noting this! We’ve already corrected the mistake.
The impact this product will have on the electronic world is large. It will give us a somewhat greater excuse to consume time messing around on the internet. I would be tempted to buy the iPad if it cleansed up my room and did my washing!
thanks for the info. I can’t see anyway to do 2 things that I’d like to do with iPad/Pages:
1) Can I save a document in iPad Pages, to return and edit later, and if so, how? Does it just do it automatically when I hit “My Documents” in ipad-pages?
2) Can I transfer BACK (from iPad-Pages doc, via iTunes sync, back onto my Macbook, to continue working in Macbook-Pages?
thanks!
Documents are saved automatically in Pages for iPad, while exporting documents from iPad is pretty well described in Apple’s FAQ: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4065
Will the Jumsoft themes for Keynote work on the iPad? All features? And can I transfer the documents to / from iPad / MacBook?
Nobody avbl to answer the above questions??
Sorry for the late reply! So far, Apple has not yet published any guidelines for third-party applications for the iPad version of iWork. So at the moment the only thing we can suggest is to transfer documents as described in this article.

HELP
I’ve tried the things above of dragging into “Pages” in file sharing and it doesn’t work for me. Matter of fact those little things you mentioned at top and bottom right do not exist on my screen.
To save a document I’ve edited, all I do is tap documents and it is done.
I also need to know how to transfer back to iMac. I’m writing a book in the hours I spend in Dialysis every week and want to transfer both ways.
Cheers – Dave Bryce
