Congratulate Martynas for taking 38th place in the 32nd World Chess Solving Championship!

We are proud to say that Martynas, a member of Jumsoft Team, not only participated in the 32nd World Chess Solving Championship (WCSC) but also took 38th place there! The competition was organized at the hotel “Jurmala Spa” in Latvia on September 2 and 3, 2008. Here is some news of his participation there.

The competition, Jurmala Open 2008, was held on the first day, and all willing to compete were welcome. Martynas was no exception. Participants had to solve 12 problems in chess, and each correct solution was worth 5 points. Fortunately for us, Martynas scored 43 points out of 60, taking 52nd place among 113 participants!

As mentioned earlier, the main purpose for Martynas’ attendance was to participate in the World Chess Solving Championship 2008. He had to solve a series of different types of chess problems in a certain amount of time during the tournament, which lasted two days, with three rounds each day. Martynas has scored 39 points out of 45 and took 36th place on the first day. On the second day, he scored 33.5 points out of 45, and the final result is worthy of many congratulations. He took 38th place in the World Chess Solving Championship 2008 with his total of 72.5 points!

“The most interesting thing was to see the strongest chess solving grandmasters and the masters from all over the world,” says Martynas. “It was my first World Chess Solving Championship, and I was very excited to participate, though some of the chess problems were quite difficult.”

Moreover, he did not expect that he would take 2nd place among the 4 participants from Lithuania. Congratulations, Martynas!
