  1. Hello
Maybe this is some sort of ‘feature’ that I am not deciphering correctly, but when I sort the Date column with the most recent on top, the Total column gives me strange amounts. The overall Balance stays correct, but there are a bunch of negative Totals that ought not be negative, and resorting with the most recent date at the bottom results in proper Total results.

This happens with Account Type Bank and Credit, and the input Transactions are a combination of multiple imports and manual additions, the date format is correct. It does not happen at the import points, and I am not finding any pattern to the madness.

    thanks!

  2. Hello Gregg,

Total column is calculated from the top of transactions to the bottom. If you sort by date descending, then yes, it should be better to calculate it from bottom to top.

We’ll improve this in the future updates.

  3. I am looking for a way to use smart accounts in my reports ? For instance I have setup a smart account to aggregate two accounts but then I can’t used this new account in the reports?? Seems pretty silly to me. Am I missing something ?

  4. Hello Aaron,

Smart account performs some calculations to filter needed transactions. Reports also works similar way. So, multiple filtering may slow down reports if there are many transactions in your data file.

However improving reports is in our future plans and we’ll consider your suggestion.

  5. Hi.

I think the weakest thing in Money is BUDGET process - i can’t create more than one budget (i.e. for me and for my family cuz they correspond with the same categories but with different accounts).

When will i see the new budget process?

  6. Hello Ilya,

We are working on a new Money 3 version and there will be improved Budget feature. We plan to release it in about 2 months.

  7. I am trying to switch over from PC to MAC and I am looking for a good check program. I downloaded the trial version and was looking for a feature similar to Microsoft Money forcast cash flow. Does this exist in this program? Also would be nice when you set up your bills that you could click on one of them if you want to skip earliest occurence.

This program looks very nice and simple..I am almost considering doing a full switch.

    Thanks

  8. Hello Dave,

No, current version doesn’t have forecast cash flow feature. This is planned for Money 3 version.

  11. Hi! Simple question. Is this app will eventually be available in french language?

    Comment by Dominic — 14 March 2008 @ 1:24 AM

  12. Hello Dominic,

Money 2 version will not be localized.
We are currently working on Money 3 (adding new features) and localizing to other languages will be performed in some 3.x version.

  13. I AM TOTALLY FRUSTRATED WITH QUICKEN 2007 FOR MAC. I RECENTLY BOUGHT IT BECAUSE I THOUGHT I COULD CONVERT FROM QKN 06 FOR WINXP SMOOTHLY. ALL WENT WELL UNTIL MY INVESTMENT ACCOUNTS. MANY T/A’S WERE REJECTED ON LOADING INTO MAC BECAUSE THEY WERE “ILLEGAL FOR INVESTMENT ACCOUNTS”.

WILL JUMSOFT CONVERT ALL (!) QIF T/A’S WITHOUT DECIDING FOR ITSELF WHETHER THE T/A’S ARE LEGAL?

  14. Hello Joe,

I am not sure if Money imports everything exactly all data that quicken shows. There might be something what quicken uses, but that is not supported in Money.

However, I suggest you try it yourself. There is 15 days trial period, so you can download and try it before buying.

  15. I will do just that. Thanks.

  16. Just trying Money out in the trial version. Pleased with it so far and particularly because I successfully managed to import all the transactions on my bank account from Microsoft Money. I have a couple of queries, How do you back up? Microsoft Money always warns you before quitting to back up, but I can’t see how you do it in Jumsoft Money. The other thing is a minor irritation – when I set up a new transaction, if I’ve already used a number for a previous transaction, the default is the next consecutive number, but mostly I don’t want any number there. How do I stop this happening?

    Thanks.

  17. Hello David,

There is an option for back up your data to .mac account (File->Backup) and you can revert to it later if needed using (File->Revert) option.

We’ll check this. Currently if you have entered transaction with a number and there will be some transactions without numbers, you’ll have to quit Money and launch again. Otherwise, as you noticed, it will set next consecutive number of last number entered.

  18. Thanks, but I don’t have a .Mac account. An option to “Save As” would be nice. Maybe in future? I do back up everything on the hard drive to an external disk every day, but an option to save the Money files to a flash disk would be good.

  19. Hello David,

Ah, I see. We’ll consider your suggestion for the future.

Money stores its data file in ~/Library/Application Support/Jumsoft/Money/ folder. So, currently you might want to backup this folder.

  20. Thanks – I’ve now bought Money, because my experience with the trial was that it’s very straightforward and easy to understand. It needs to be for my limited financial ability.
